20 Mar Remix The Symphony
Remix The Symphony
WE’RE REMIXING THE SYMPHONY, AND WE WANT YOU TO JOIN US!
This is a chance to engage with classical music in a new and exciting way. Do you think La Mer by Claude Debussy deserves a black metal reimagining? Would Ravel sound better if it was spliced with hip-hop? Can you hear EDM track that samples Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis by Ralph Vaughan Williams? With this contest, Remix the Symphony is trying to explore different places where classical music can exist and grow, spreading this stable of culture, and represented through your unique voice.
We provide three compositions for you to use in your remixing. These compositions are being performed by Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra during their current Lilly Classical Series, so you get a chance to rework their season alongside us! We’ve given you these base songs, but from there, the direction is entirely up to you. This is an opportunity for you to show off your unique style.
CONTEST RULES
Your remix must use at least one of the songs that we have provided for you. How you use it is up to you. Be creative! Be weird!
All remixes must be original work except for the inclusion of the song we provide.
All submissions must have the rights to any other works sampled in the remix.
Contest entrants will retain all rights to their work, but you grant Remix the Symphony and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra the rights to publish and reproduce this work. It might appear on our website, social media, email marketing content, and other digital and print media.
While we encourage any and all remixes of these songs, we do not tolerate any racist, sexist, homophobic, or any other offensive content or themes. Additionally, please refrain from profanity and sexual content.
The winner of the contest will be determined by members of the ISO and Remix the Symphony.
Remix the Symphony can end the contest at any time, for any reason. Remix the Symphony can remove any remix from the contest for any reason.
PRIZES
The winning songs will be released on a custom, exclusive album.
